About the campaign
Dr Jackie Lighten.
Dr Jackie Lighten grew up in Horndon-on-the-Hill and has lived on Old Hill Avenue, Langdon Hills, since 1997. He is an ecologist with a PhD in evolutionary biology and population genetics.
His scientific work helped stop the Australian Government’s planned release of a herpes virus to control carp, a national programme abandoned after its evidence was shown to be unsound. He co-founded a technology company that builds environmental monitoring systems.
He has analysed the 7,800 pages of evidence behind the Local Plan against the legal tests it must pass. His representation will be filed before 14 October 2026 and will ask the Planning Inspector to remove Policy SS18.
